AI Tattoo Generator from Text

Write the idea, choose one of eight styles, say where it goes, and get a clean design on a white background.

A design from this tool is a reference for a conversation with a tattoo artist, not a finished stencil. Your artist will redraw and size it to fit your body.

Style

Thin, delicate lines with light detail.

0/300

Shapes the layout of the design. It is not placed on a body.

Ink

Tattoo style guide with example prompts

Review the input type and core settings before starting your own version.

Examples made with this tool are coming soon.

For now, the gallery shows creative references and sample inputs, not results made with this tool.

Example 01

Fine line tattoos

Thin, even lines and a lot of empty space. It suits small to medium pieces on forearms, wrists and ribs, and it asks for a steady hand and a careful artist.

Input:
Text description
Settings:
Style: Fine line, black and grey or color
View original prompt

Describe it like this: a single stem of wildflowers with a small bee, delicate and airy.

Example 02

Traditional tattoos

Heavy outlines, flat fills and a short palette. Designs read clearly from across a room and tend to age well, which is why classic motifs such as roses, swallows, daggers and anchors stay popular.

Input:
Text description
Settings:
Style: Traditional, black and grey or color
View original prompt

Describe it like this: a swallow holding a banner above a red rose.

Example 03

Blackwork tattoos

Heavy black areas, dots and hatching in place of soft shading. It is dramatic and graphic, and it is also the usual choice for cover-up work, so ask your artist how much black your skin and old ink would need.

Input:
Text description
Settings:
Style: Blackwork, black ink only
View original prompt

Describe it like this: a crescent moon wrapped in ivy leaves with dotwork shading.

Example 04

Minimalist tattoos

The fewest lines that still say the idea. Minimalist pieces are quick to read and easy to place, but very small, very thin work can soften over the years, so keep a little weight in the lines.

Input:
Text description
Settings:
Style: Minimalist, black and grey or color
View original prompt

Describe it like this: a mountain range drawn in one continuous line, with a small sun.

Example 05

Watercolor tattoos

Loose washes and gradients that look painted. The soft look is lovely on paper, so talk to your artist about adding a light outline or deeper tones so the piece holds up as it heals and ages.

Input:
Text description
Settings:
Style: Watercolor, black and grey or color
View original prompt

Describe it like this: a hummingbird above a blooming hibiscus, loose paint splashes.

Example 06

Japanese tattoos

Strong outlines, flowing movement and background elements such as waves and clouds that tie a design to the body. Motifs carry traditional meanings, so it is worth reading about a subject before you commit to it.

Input:
Text description
Settings:
Style: Japanese, black and grey or color
View original prompt

Describe it like this: a koi fish swimming up a stylized wave with peony flowers.

Example 07

Geometric tattoos

Exact shapes, symmetry and even line weight. Geometric work leaves little room for error, so it rewards an artist who is comfortable with straight lines and clean circles.

Input:
Text description
Settings:
Style: Geometric, black and grey or color
View original prompt

Describe it like this: a wolf head built from triangles inside a circle of fine lines.

Example 08

Script lettering tattoos

Type the exact words in the lettering box. AI can misspell or merge letters, so check every character, and have your artist set the final lettering by hand.

Input:
Text description
Settings:
Style: Script lettering, black and grey or color
View original prompt

Describe it like this: a small sprig of lavender beside the lettering.

How to Make a Tattoo Design from Text

  1. 01

    Describe the tattoo

Write what you want to see in a sentence or two, for example a subject, a mood and any detail that matters. The box takes up to 300 characters. Concrete nouns work better than abstract ideas.

  2. 02

    Choose style, placement and ink

Pick one of eight styles, then where on the body it will go and whether you want black and grey or color. The placement changes the shape of the design, tall for ribs, wide for a chest, small for a wrist.

  3. 03

Create it and take it to your artist

The price is shown before you start: 3 credits for each design. Download the result, make a few versions if you like, and bring your favorite to a tattoo artist.

Placement and sizing tips

Forearm, wrist and hand

Long, narrow designs follow the forearm well. A wrist piece should be simple enough to read at a small size, and hands and fingers lose detail quickly, so keep those to a bold shape or a short word.

Upper arm, shoulder and chest

These areas are wide and fairly flat, so they take larger pieces with more detail, including borders, backgrounds and several elements that sit together.

Ribs, spine and thigh

Tall compositions suit the ribs and spine, and the thigh holds a large vertical piece. These are big canvases, so plan the size with your artist rather than shrinking a detailed design.

Ankle, neck and behind the ear

Small, clean marks work best here. Thin lines blur as skin ages, so choose a simple shape with a little weight to the line and leave out tiny details.

What to write, and what to expect

How to write a good tattoo prompt

A clear subject

Name what is in the picture. “A wolf howling at a crescent moon” gives the model more to draw than “something about freedom”.

One idea at a time

A single focal subject with one supporting element usually reads better than a crowded scene. Make separate designs and combine them later with your artist.

Exact words for lettering

In script lettering, type the word or phrase in its own box, up to 40 characters. Short words come out more reliably than long phrases.

Price and the tattoo artist note

3 credits for each design

Every run costs 3 credits, and the quote appears before you confirm. A new account gets 3 welcome credits, which cover one design here.

A reference, not a stencil

The picture is flat artwork on white. It does not show how the ink will sit on your skin, so your artist will adjust size, line weight and spacing for the body part you choose.

Check every letter

AI can misspell words or merge letters. Read lettering character by character, and have your artist set the final text by hand.

No tattoo advice or guarantees

This tool does not promise how a design will heal or age. Ask a licensed artist about placement, aftercare and cover-ups.
